Conclusion

This was a fabulous book. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down. There is not a single point in the book, where I dislike Opal. Her character is great throughout the whole book. I wish I were able to make friends like her. And Winn Dixie is an excellent dog, I love how he gives Opal that boost of confidence that she might not of had with out him.

I would definitely recommend reading this book.

I think I might need to go see the movie now!

Is it not a little too much though? I mean who is really that perfect that nothing bad happens? I kinda got tired of it because that sad moment or conflict never really came. Yeah we thought Dixie was lost but he wasn't and everyone was happy and singing. I mean, can we really expect for a dog as perfect as Dixie to stick around forever. I mean, somebody is really sad that he ran away from them and went to Opal, aren't they. We don't get to know about them though! Cheesy Cheery is how I'd describe it. Good for kids but not so much my style.

I, too, loved the book, Cheley! I rented and watched the movie last night and enjoyed that, too, although not as much as I enjoyed reading the book. The movie's soundtrack is awesome, and basically the book was left intact.

By the way, I am wondering what the comment by David Santos is all about--what the heck?!

I just can't get over how DiCamillo can use so few words and yet make the characters so strong! How does she do it?

I don't know... can you erase comments in your blog? I know you can set the comments to being moderated so that you read them before they go live...

I could not agree with you more! I really liked this book also. I thought it was such an easy read! There were some things that bothered me, but there usually are always things that bother me in books! Overall...good book! I loved Opal also, I hope I have kids like that in my class when I become a teacher. It will make my job so much more fun!

Yeah, I agree with you and I rather to read the book than watching the movie, I like to picture words in my head and make my own story out of the characters in the book. I really liked this book too!!
